Stock market trader Chris Reynolds Gordon lost everything when exotic property deals he’d made from Dubai and Morocco collapsed – leaving him homeless and forced to move in with his grandmother in Swansea.
But it was while he was licking his wounds in South Wales that the born entrepreneur came up with the idea that would win him his now international notoriety and the return of that former jet-setting lifestyle.
He decided to become the sex baron of Belgravia – the select London district just a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace and the Royal Albert Hall.
“That makes it all sound rather easy, I know,” the 30-year-old told Wales Online. “But I’d been to swingers’ parties with an ex-girlfriend back when I was in finance so I knew people on the scene.
“I just realised that I could probably make a better job of organising those sorts of bashes had I the chance. I’ve always been enterprising and just spotted a gap in the market.”
And before long he’d become like the Mark Zuckerberg of naked networking, enforcing a strict door policy at his get-togethers where to get in everyone had to be young and “unbelievably hot”.
Chris said: “I knew a lot of attractive girls and good-looking guys who’d happily pay £100 a time to attend that sort of exclusive adult event.
“So me and a group of friends raised the money to rent a venue, put the word out, and chose about 15 couples from the large number of photo applications we got sent.
“After that the news spread and more and more would apply – we even had one magazine model fly over from LA to make one of our UK parties.”
Hiring rooms in select London hotels for his events didn’t always go to plan, though.
“We got kicked out of one when the manager saw how many people were getting in the lift to go up to the same floor,” he said.
“Plus there were another 32 couples hanging around the bar waiting for their turn. Luckily I knew a guy who has a £27m mansion near the Colombian consulate and he said we could go there instead.
“Imagine the scene – a black cab convoy of scantily-clad ladies all making their way across town at once.
“Then there was the time a police officer knocked on the front door because he’d received complaints about the noise.
“But when he saw what was going on he asked if we had room for one more.”
Chris added that he holds his parties all over the world in cities like New York, Paris and Ibiza.
“We did one in Wales too – took over an entire hotel for the weekend, I can’t say where.
“It was absolutely insane though – I woke up at 1pm on Sunday afternoon after the most ridiculous night and there were people still getting it on and I’m sitting in the middle of it all trying to eat my toast.”
It was when an injury caused his career on the running track to falter he turned his attention to what might be termed ‘indoor athletics’ instead.
He said: “People are very quick to judge me on what I do but if everyone involved has a good time, practises safe sex and no one gets hurt, then who am I harming?
“The only person who’s ever come out of all this badly is me – I’m not in touch with most of my family anymore and I’ve tried to end my own life twice.
“I suffered badly with depression for a time but I decided life’s too short to get like that and the parties became a way to springboard myself out of the doldrums.
“The haters should look at how to make their own lives better rather than worry about what I’m up to.”
But what does his nan think of it all?
“She’s 82 and doesn’t ask too many questions – thank God,” he said. “All she cares about is that I’m happy and I feel the same way about her. I think the world of her, always have.”
